Funeral Notice
Our sincere thoughts to the Whitehead family. My brother, sister and I have such fond memories of visiting Uncle Bob and Aunty Ruth at the family home in Heathmont and the beautiful gardens where ever the two would live. Thank you Bob for the friendship to our parents, Arthur and Reta, throughout the years having met on their Honeymoon. The garden in Heaven will certainly be blooming now with Bob’s passing. What a wonderful and fulfilled life he led.

Kind Regards
Christine, Keith and Anne Collins.I remember happy times when Bob and Ruth were involved in warrenheip school with us. They were always there at events supporting Kirsten and Emily. Eliesha and Kirsten had many play dates at their house. At pick up times you never quite knew who’s car they were going to hop in.

I know I speak for many of the former Friends of the Ballarat Begonia Festival and the Boards, Committees and the hundreds of volunteers in acknowledging the incredible support and contribution of Bob Whitehead, in his capacity as Superintendent of the Ballarat Botanic Gardens over many years. Bob and his beloved wife Ruth were tireless workers for the Festival, and remembered today with sincere gratitude and thanks, and fond affection. Bob and I became great personal friends over the years, and along with the former Town Clerk of the City of Ballarat the late Ian Smith, we spent many many memorable and happy occasions/experiences together. Our sincere sympathy to Bob’s family. RIP Bob – now in God’s care … and re-united with his beloved Ruth. Goodbye old Friend! Barry Wilkins (Barry Begonia!) Former Director & CEO Ballarat Begonia Festival Association Ltd 1969 – 1992Bob Whitehead’s interests and energies reached far. Along with his beloved Ruth, he opened his glorious garden annually for many years to raise funds for the local World Vision Group, of which they were members. He will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, hospitality, good humour, many abilities and unassuming nature. We extend our sincere condolences to his family.
February 15, 2022On behalf of the Ballan Red Cross Branch we express our sympathy to Bob’s family, he will be greatly missed. Bob was a judge at our Flower Show for almost 30 years. He and Ruth were a wonderful couple and their kindness and service to our communities will long be remembered.
